Testimonials

Mike built a large three-season covered porch for us in 2009. It was architecturally interesting due to its roof line and supporting structure of pillars which presented a couple of building challenges. Mike not only solved these but also enhanced the design to create extra space. He always went above and beyond and was an absolute pleasure to work with ... very professional and personable. He explained everything really well and was happy to answer all of our questions. We appreciated the way he kept us updated regarding all aspects of the project. Mike was always dependable - if he said he would start on Monday, he started on Monday. We love our new porch and especially the “extra features” that Mike provided. We highly recommend Mike and his Britannia Construction team to anyone who wants a reliable and hassle-free building project completed on-time and with exceptional results.

We are happy to provide a testimonial for Brittania Construction.  Mike and his team began major renovations on all three floors of our house in April 2011, ripping out walls on the main floor, erecting two dormers on the second floor, laying a subfloor in the basement.  In addition to recreating the upstairs bathroom, the downstairs bathroom was gutted and redone.  They also enclosed the front porch and built a deck on the back.  The work has been excellent.   Mike made helpful recommendations for materials.  While we worked from drawings created by another party, Mike made suggestions to improve on those drawings, particularly with where to expand space.  The results are a bathroom and master bedroom larger (and better) than anticipated.  His team also made suggestions how to improve on the deck, and it is now a truly ideal space.  While we lived out of the house for the first few months, when we moved back, his team was as unobtrusive and respectful as possible.  They were very conscientious of the household of stressed out animals (two cats and a dog) and people.  In particular, Rob is a wonderful worker and communicator, checking in upon arrival and upon leaving at the end of the day.

When we had an unexpected and unrelated emergency—pipes leading into the house sprang a leak and needed to be replaced—Mike got a plumber to us immediately and provided a quote quickly; he crunched the numbers so that some of the work already being done would be folded into the new job.  Furthermore, even though we opted for some more expensive items than the allowances Mike quoted, we still came in under his initial quote.  Not only does he do good work and quotes numbers that are realistic, Mike is extremely personable and likeable.  We would not hesitate to recommend him.

From May 2011 to the present, Mike Young and other members of his construction company, Britannia Construction, have worked on our house located at 63 Hill Street.  Mike and his workers have provided high quality services in the construction of an addition to our home.  Mike is always very professional and responsive to our needs and queries.  We highly recommend him. If you have any questions, please call us at (613) 546-8380.

We have had Britannia do two construction projects for us.  We are very happy with both results.  Mike runs a professional organization and his team does a great job.  He took the trouble to really understand and deliver what we wanted.  He has a good eye for design and made some great suggestions for both projects that contributed to the end results that we wanted.  He is very knowledgeable and provides solutions on the fly.   And we particularly appreciate the fact that we can always get hold of him to ask a question or get an update.

We are very happy to provide a letter of recommendation for Britannia Construction, with regard to our personal experience of their work. We have recently added a relatively large addition to the rear of our house. The construction involved the demolition of an existing addition, plus the construction of a new basement and two additional floors on the site. We are very happy with the work undertaken. There are a number of points that we would like to stress:

  • the construction was completed on time and to budget;
  • the materials used were of high quality and appropriate to the nature of the
  • addition (a sympathetic historical construction);
  • there were ‘no surprises’; any proposed changes or new ideas were
  • discussed fully with us;
  • we were able to alter certain elements where possible in consultation with
  • the contractor;
  • all contractors working on the site were skilled, courteous, and sensitive to
  • the nature of small children;
  • if there were any queries about specific items the contractor was happy to
  • hear them and advise;
  • the contractor – Mike Young – was a pleasure to work with, especially as he
  • was ‘on site’ for the majority of the work and therefore able to update us on
  • progress almost every day

In sum, we have no negative comments to make about Britannia Construction.
Please feel free to contact us if you want to discuss our experience.

Sincerely,

Martin Hand
